Venn Innovation is happy to host the September meeting of Tech Talk NB at The Junction.

This monthly get-together of tech professionals will take place Friday, September 22, 2023 at 6pm.

Snacks and drinks will be provided at the event. Attendees should RSVP (click here) to the event before the deadline to be able to attend the event. Limited childcare will be provided as well - volunteers have graciously agreed to accommodate young chidlren with kid-friendly activities. If bringing children, please include that information on the RSVP form.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR New Brunswick MEDTECH SUMMIT

This month’s NB MedTech Summit will highlight
healthcare innovation and new initiatives

In just a few weeks, New Brunswick’s MedTech Summit will see
researchers from across our region and beyond, gathering to
present and discuss the latest innovations in healthcare.

With a goal of expanding and enhancing the province’s health technology ecosystem,
the Summit is bringing together researchers, health providers and key health industry
members to improve heathcare delivery in our province through collaboration, discussion,
and innovation.

Co-hosted by The McKenna Institute, Université de Moncton, ResearchNB, and
Venn Innovation, the Summit will be held on September 27th and 28th, 2023,
at Moncton’s Delta Beausejour.

NB MedTech will feature two keynote speakers: Jeff Leger, CEO of Shoppers Drug Mart;
and Dr. Josephine McMurray, Associate Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University and
Associate Scientific Director of AGE-WELL NCE.

Various researchers from academic institutes in the province, including the University of New Brunswick (UNB) and l’Université de Moncton (UdeM),
will also be presenting their areas of research.

Reduced room rates at the Delta Hotels Beausejour are available for attendees.

TECHTOBERFEST COMING TO VENN

It’s that time of year - days are getting shorter, nights cooler, kids are back in school and local tech professionals are gearing up for an event that brings knowledge and fun together - Venn Innovation’s Techtoberfest!
This year’s Techtoberfest theme is everyone’s latest fascination - Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Festivities will start late afternoon Wednesday, October 18th with panel presentations and discussions, featuring special guests from the Federal Government’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner, our own Fibre Centre, and various regional AI professionals. Then, a great networking session with traditional German sausage, schnitzel and local craft beer.
One-on-one sessions will also be available for entrepreneurs and tech workers the following morning (Thursday, October 19th) with our guest panelists.
This event is free, but space will be limited, so we’re asking anyone interested to register (click here). A more detailed agenda will be provided in the coming weeks.

UNLEASHING THE POWER OF THE INTERN - A SEED SUCCESS STORY

This year, Venn Innovation was fortunate to have Morgan Arbeau work with us throughout
the summer.
Morgan came to our organization via the provincial government’s Student Employment Experience Development (SEED) program and quickly became a valued contributor to our team. No task was too big or too small for Morgan and we were very pleased with all her efforts. We think the admiration is mutual because the blog she wrote for our website about her experience was very positive!
Morgan is now pursuing her marketing studies in Ottawa and we wish her all the best!

BillboardHub - Rapid Expansion
BillboardHub Inc. is growing fast. The recent graduate company from Venn’s Garage Program calls itself Atlantic Canada’s largest billboard network, and no wonder: officially launched last year, it provides billboard campaigns to advertisers and sells inventory for billboard providers across all four Atlantic provinces! BillboardHub is now eying its next market expansion into Quebec and has hired two new employees - an administration professional and a graphic designer - as well as welcoming five new vendors! The New Brunswick government, through Opportunities NB, is supporting Four Eyes Financial ’s continued growth by providing market development and payroll assistance.
Established in 2015, Four Eyes Financial is a regulatory technology firm that helps organizations navigate requirements related to regulations and reporting, particularly in the financial sector. It is anticipated that it will generate more than $9.1 million in new GDP over the term of the contract.
Under the agreement, the company will receive $25,000 in funding to expand their client base across Canada and the U.S. The firm expects their marketing push will result in more than $750,000 in new revenue.

Saint Mary’s University - 10th Edition of Atlantic BIOCON
It’s never too early to start planning and Saint Mary’s University wants you to ‘save the date’ for the 10th edition of Atlantic BIOCON from May 28th - 30th, 2024!
Co-hosted by the Nova Scotia Innovation Hub, ResearchNB, INNOV, the Verschuren Centre and IGNITE Atlantic, this conference will feature panel discussions with regional, national and international speakers on a variety of subjects focused on bringing low-carbon, industrial bioeconomy projects forward. Attendees can see the latest initiatives designed to unlock the full potential of the bioeconomy and pave the way for a healthy economy, healthy environment and healthy communities!

NEW IP PROGRAM PRESENTED TO VENN STARTUPS

Intellectual property (IP) - your ideas, your creations, your inventions - was the topic of a great workshop at Venn Innovation, presented by Springboard Atlantic Inc. The organization presented its Atlantic IP Advantage program to startups here at Venn (in-person and via Zoom) covering everything from what IP is, to its importance, how to commercialize it and how to protect it. Very spirited and enthusiastic session!
